Miri Privacy Policy

Miri is an AI companion Discord bot, paired with this web dashboard, operated by an individual developer ("we", "us", "the operator"). This policy explains what data Miri collects, why, and what rights you have over it.
This is a good-faith, plain-language description of how Miri actually works today. It is written by the operator, not a lawyer, and is not a substitute for legal advice — particularly given the sensitivity of the age-verification process described below.

1. Who we are
Miri is operated by a single individual, not a registered company. The same operator runs the Discord bot and this companion web dashboard. Contact for all privacy matters: cdaseraphin@gmail.com.
2. Data we collect
Using Miri means interacting with an AI system that builds up memory about you and the server you're in, in order to hold coherent conversations and personalize its responses. Specifically, we collect and store:
- Discord identifiers: your Discord user ID, username, and avatar. If you log into this dashboard, we also store your Discord OAuth profile (username, global name, avatar, and the list of servers you share with Miri) to run the dashboard login.
- Conversation content: messages you send to Miri, images you share with it (which may be analyzed for content), and summaries/memories the AI generates about your conversations, interests, and facts you've shared.
- Inferred relationship data: trust, familiarity, and mood scores; personality traits Miri infers about you; notes and impressions Miri forms over time; how Miri perceives your relationships with other users in shared servers.
- Moderation records: warnings, mutes, bans, and flagged-message history, plus internal safety/risk signals used to detect problematic behavior.
- Premium billing data: if you or your server subscribes to Miri Premium, we store your Discord ID linked to a Stripe customer/subscription ID. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles payment processing directly.
- Virtual economy data: in-app currency balances and game history from Miri's minigames (slots, blackjack, poker, lottery). This currency has no real-world monetary value and cannot be purchased with real money.
- Age-verification data: to access age-gated (18+) features, you may be asked to verify your age by uploading a government-issued ID (driver's license, passport, or birth certificate) in a private ticket channel. This image is reviewed manually by the operator to confirm your age and is then deleted; it is not copied into Miri's databases. A record that you were verified (and the method used) is retained.
3. How we use your data
We use the data above to:
- Hold conversations and personalize Miri's responses to you specifically
- Maintain Miri's memory of your relationship, preferences, and shared history
- Moderate servers and detect abusive or unsafe behavior
- Provide and manage Premium subscription features
- Operate this web dashboard (login, settings, stats, chat)
- Verify eligibility for age-gated (18+) content and features
4. Third parties we share data with
To provide Miri's features, some data is sent to these third-party service providers, who process it on our behalf:
- Together AI — receives your message and image content to generate Miri's AI responses and analyze shared images.
- Google (Custom Search API) — receives the text of search queries when you use Miri's search command.
- Stripe — processes Premium subscription payments and stores your billing/card information directly; we only store the resulting customer/subscription identifiers.
- Discord — as the platform Miri operates on, Discord itself processes all messages and account data per its own Privacy Policy.
These providers may process data on servers located outside the UK/EEA. We only share what's needed for them to provide their service to us.
5. Legal basis for processing (UK GDPR)
Where UK GDPR applies, our legal bases are:
- Consent — by using Miri, you consent to the AI processing your messages to respond to you.
- Contract — processing needed to provide Premium features you've subscribed to.
- Legitimate interests — moderation, safety, and abuse-prevention processing, which we consider necessary to keep servers safe.
6. How long we keep your data
- Conversation memory, relationship/personality data, and moderation history are retained indefinitely for as long as you continue interacting with Miri, so it can maintain continuity in your relationship with it. You can request deletion at any time (see Section 7).
- Technical logs are kept only briefly and deleted automatically: error logs (30 days), console logs (7 days), interaction quality metrics (60 days).
- Age-verification ID images are deleted after manual review; they are not retained long-term.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to certain processing
- Port your data to another service
- Withdraw consent at any time (by no longer using Miri)
Miri does not currently have a self-service command for these requests — email cdaseraphin@gmail.com and we will handle it manually. UK residents also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
8. Age requirement
Miri is intended for users 18 years of age or older. Certain mature/age-gated features require identity verification via the process described in Section 2. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and the verification process exists specifically to prevent this.
9. Children's data
Miri is not directed at, and does not knowingly collect data from, children. If we become aware that a user is under 18, their access to age-gated features will be revoked and related verification data deleted.
10. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data, but no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to or stored by Miri.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Miri's features change. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
