Miri Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Miri, an AI companion Discord bot, and this companion web dashboard (together, "the Service"), operated by an individual developer ("we", "us", "the operator"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
This document is written in good faith by the operator, not a lawyer, and is not a substitute for legal advice.
1. Acceptance & eligibility
You must be 18 years of age or older to use Miri. Some features are age-gated and require identity verification (see our Privacy Policy for how this works). By using the Service, you confirm you meet this age requirement.
2. Description of the Service
Miri is an AI-driven chatbot that holds conversations, builds memory of interactions, and offers moderation, utility, economy, and entertainment features on Discord, plus this companion web dashboard. Responses are generated by an AI model and may occasionally be inaccurate, out of character, or inappropriate. Miri's output is not professional advice — medical, legal, financial, or otherwise — and should not be relied on as such.
3. Account access
Access to Miri requires a Discord account and is subject to Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. The operator may restrict, whitelist, suspend, or revoke access to the Service or specific features at their discretion, including for violations of these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use Miri in compliance with Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines at all times. You must not use Miri to generate, request, or share illegal content. Mature/NSFW content generation is only available in appropriate, age-verified contexts and requires your explicit consent within the conversation.
5. Premium subscriptions
Miri offers optional paid Premium features, billed via Stripe on a recurring basis. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges until you cancel. Subscriptions can be canceled at any time; access continues until the end of the current billing period. Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law. We may change Premium pricing with reasonable notice.
6. Virtual currency & minigames
Miri includes minigames (e.g. slots, blackjack, poker, lottery) that use an in-app virtual currency. This currency:
- Has no real-world monetary value
- Cannot be purchased with real money
- Cannot be redeemed, cashed out, or exchanged for money or anything of value
These features are provided purely for entertainment.
7. Content & license
You retain ownership of the messages, images, and other content you send to Miri. By sending content to Miri, you grant us a license to process it (including via third-party AI providers) solely to operate and improve the Service. AI-generated responses are provided "as is"; we make no ownership claims over your own content and do not guarantee any particular output.
8. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that violates these Terms, Discord's rules, or applicable law.
9. Disclaimers & limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As an individual operator (not a registered company), our ability to guarantee uptime, accuracy, or support is limited. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold the operator harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. Continued use of Miri after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated "Last updated" date.
